He was a son to Frank and Iva Mae (Jones) Sargent. On Mar 15, 1953, he married Helen L. Jones, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sons, Roy (Robin) and Joe (Sylvia), all Columbus Grove, Dale (Shayna), Cairo, and John (Nikki), Ottawa; a sister, Betty Schaublin, Columbus Grove; a brother-in-law, Charles "Bud" (Dottie) Jones, Columbus Grove; and nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Harold and Louis Altstaetter; and a sister, Helen Zimmerly.
He was a 1952 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He was a member of Columbus Grove Christian Church. He and his wife were co-owners of Car-E-It, Ottawa, and Skooters Bar & Grill, Kalida, and former owner and operators of Meadowbrook Lanes Bowling Alley, Pandora. He had been a member of Rufus Putnam Lodge 364 Free & Accepted Masons, Columbus Grove, for more than 50 years, and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Services will be at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with Pastor Dave Thompson, officiating.
