Martha Jane Bennett, 90, formerly of Wood County, died Monday, Jan. 23, in Marietta Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late James and Hanna Greiner Ross. She was a charter member of Ross Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a schoolteacher in rural schools of Wood County. She was later a nurse at Harding Sanitarium at Worthington, Ohio, until her retirement.

She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Vaughan of Arthurdale, W.Va., Connie Stewart of Williamstown and Joni Woodruff of Davidsonville, Md.; one brother, James Ross of Akron, Ohio; four grandchildren and four grat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bennett; and one son, Wanard Bennett.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at McClure-Schafer Funeral Home, Marietta, with Pastor John McGraw officiating. Burial was in the Kanawha Baptist Cemetery, Leachtown.
