Mr. Getz lived in his native Akron for 62 years before moving to Long Lake 20 years ago to operate Sye's boathouse on Long Lake. Previously he had been a self-employed carpenter.
Seymour was born May 12, 1883 in Akron, son of the late David & Minnie (Ingersoll) Getz. Also deceased a son, Clifford Getz; sister, Goldie A Long; brothers, David and Grover Getz.
He leaves his wife, Sadie Mae (Connor-Hopkins), who he married on August 22, 1914 (later passed in 1972); two daughters, Mrs Irene (& Ward) Ingersoll (both have passed), Norton, and Mrs Opal Pataki (later passed), Barberton; three sons, Seymour I (Margie) Cocoa, Fla. (Seymour passed in 2005 & Margie in 2013), Melvin F. (Betty), Freeport, Oh (Betty passed in 1993 and Melvin in 2009), and Richard Warren (June) of Clinton, Oh (Richard passed in 2003); four sisters, Mrs Mrytle Thompson, Mrs. Sylvia Houston, Mrs Flossie Stonebrook, and Mrs Carrie Kozak, all of Barberton (all of passed); brother Chester Getz, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (who now has passed); 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Prentice Kenmore Chapel. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
