Charles Herron Services Sunday

Charles E. Herron, 72, long time resident of York county (sic) and father of Carl Herron of Aurora, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 26th, at his home in York.

Funeral services were held last Sunday from the Metz chapel at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Merl C. Smith of the Methodist church (sic) officiating. Interment was in the Plainfield cemetery (sic) west of Bradshaw.

The deceased was born at La Prairie, Ill., on June 13, 1868. He grew to manhood in Illinois and was married to Miss Mary Winfield of La Prairie on Sept. 30, 1891.

In the spring of 1899 he came to York county (sic). He farmed for 18 years on a farm near the Plainfield cemetery (sic) located four miles east of Hampton. He was well known by many people of the Hampton community.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Herron; one son, Carl of Aurora; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Jenkins of York; and two brothers and one sister residing in Illinois. Three sons preceded him in death.
