Sadly, Lillian Mae lost her life in a housefire near Marriottsville,MD. in Carroll county. Her husband Arthur and her 10 year old daughter Linda Lou were dead when the firemen arrived. Lillian died days later. Linda stayed home from school because she had a sore throat. It was said in the papers that she was crippled...another sister was crippled with Polio, not Linda.

Lillian Mae was the daughter of William Arthur Sellman and Susie Florida Sullivan/Sellman.

She was the sister of Rose Sellman/Williams,Ruth Elizabeth Sellman/Mills,and Charles Sellman.

Another daughter,Barbara Mae,died in a separate house fire years before.


Three other children were in Sykesville School at the time; Thomas,8 ,Betty Jane,11,and Beatrice ,13. Three other children; Evelyn and Shirley were married and Charles lived away from home. Evelyn,the oldest,told the newspapers that Lillian had a total of 15 children. 8 had died as babies.
