Maria was the oldest child of Franz Eichhorn (called "Klein") and his wife, Anna Maria (Hess). Her date of birth was September 19, 1834. The location of her parents' home in Wurges could not be determined. She was twenty-one years old and single when she filed to be released as a subject of the Duchy of Nassau, on October 5, 1855. The value of her possessions is given in the application as 100 Gulden. Wilhelm Lewalter II of Wurges stood as guarantor for her. The cost of her passage was borne by her uncle, Johann Hartmann, a fellow traveler. His deceased wife was a sister of Maria Anna's mother.

Maria Anna Eichhorn must have remained in the general vicinity of relatives and acquaintances from Wurges, since we next encounter her in the church records in Frelsburg at the time of her wedding to John Traugott Lehmann in 1858. He was the son of immigrants from Silesia, whose parents had also settled in Bastrop County. Their first child, Julius John, was born on March 8, 1859. Four more sons were born after him. Maria Anna died following the birth of the fifth son. She was thirty-seven years old. She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Meuth Hill.
