Bernice Virginia Rogers Boyles, 79, of Core died Wednesday (Aug. 7, 2002) at Monongalia General Hospital after a prolonged illness. She was born July 8, 1923, at Rowlesburg, a daughter of the late John and Olie Laymire Rogers. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend, who was overly generous, humble and patient with her family’s shortcomings. Her life revolved around her home, family and friends. She found particular joy helping younger children and older people. Children could never lose a game when they played with her. After retiring from University High School in 1986 as a custodian, Mrs. Boyles aided an invalid neighbor and friend, helped another neighbor with many foster children, helped and cleaned in her church, quilted and worked in her home and yard. She attended the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle in Mount Morris, Pa. She is survived and loved by many, including a son, David Boyles of Booth; a daughter, Beverly, who cared for her in her illness; a sister, Ruby Hopkins of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and several close friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Boyles, on April 19, 1983, and three brothers, Francis, Guy and Rex Rogers.Donations in her memory may be made to: Betty Puskar Breast Care Center, Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, West Virginia University Hospital, P.O.
