He was born Oct. 20, 1938 in Sidell to the late Howard Woodrow and Ula Wilma Lewis Schmink. He was also preceded in death by one son, Curtis Alan Schmink and one brother, Donald Schmink.
He married Sandra Tutwiler July 7, 1984 in Catlin. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Ronald D. Schmink and Michael Lee Schmink; one daughter, Michelle Tutwiler; one brother, Richard "Butch" Schmink; one sister, Susan (James) Woodard; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He retired from Hyster as a truck driver and operated the former Denny's Hardware and Denny's Standard Station in Catlin. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, visiting, tinkering, gardening and woodworking. He also served on the Catlin Village Board and was trustee of the Fairmount Conservation Club.
