Samuel was a son of William Inloes and Lydia (Capper) Harrison. He was the brother of: Anna, Jane M., Elizabeth, George Chapman, Sarah Ellen, Joshua H., David C., Thomas J., Margaret, John James and one sister who died in infancy. He was married to Elizabeth A. Wilcox on June 15, 1861 in Story County, Iowa. They had the following children: Metta Edith, Augusta May, Charles Burton, Melvin Lee, Samuel Eugene, Della and Lydia Belle.
