Charlie J. Carlson of 8257 Latona Ave. Seattle, died suddenly in his home Saturday July 30th from an apparent heart attack.

Charlie was born Sept 9, 1876 in Smalund, Sweden to parents Sven Elof Carlson and Martha Katrina Carlson. The Carlson family traveled to America by way of steam boat. They settled down in the town of Verdi, Lincoln County, Minnesota where Charlie's youngest sister Nannie Carolina Carlson was born.

The family moved across country by wagon to Washington state and settled down in the small town of Cedarhome. a small suburb of Stanwood. Charlie who spent most of his younger life working as a farm hand, but decided to take a chance as in construction carpenter and then as an auto mechanic, then as a shipyard worker and soon found the love of his life a woman named Mabel Amanda Hyland. Their wedding took place in Seattle on August 1st of 1916. Mabel and Charley move to the Seattle area. On December 7, 1926 Mabel and Charlie gave birth to their daughter Betty Jean Carlson.

After working a number of years in the Seattle Ship yards as a Machinist, Charlie retired.

Charlie left behind his soul mate and the love of his life Mabel Amanda Hyland-Carlson, Daughter Betty Jean Jessup, Son-in-Law Donald David Jessup of San Francisco, three sisters Mrs. Anna Nielson, Mrs. Nannie Henning both of Stanwood and Mrs. Mathilda Forstrom of Enumclaw and three granddaughters in San Francisco. Charlie was proceded in death by his parents Sven and Martha Carlson and brother in-law Niels Nielson.

Funeral Services will be held in Green Lake Funeral Home on Wednesday Aug 3rd at 3 p.m. Interment in Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park and Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made out to the American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association.
