Funeral services for Nell (Tubb) Wood, age 93, of Centerville will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Rev. Joy Richards, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, will officiate and interment will follow in the New Salem Cemetery east of Centerville.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Walters Funeral Home.
Nell (Tubb) Wood was born on March 20, 1917 in the Ninevah Community of Leon County to Frank & Swan (Dorman) Tubb. She and her late husband, V.D. Wood, had lived in Louisiana for 42 years before coming to Centerville. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She loved flowers. Mrs. Wood had a green thumb and was very successful at growing flowers. She was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church in Centerville and had lived in Centerville for 34 years. She passed away on March 1, 2011 in Madisonville. Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her husband, V.D. Wood ; one son, Vernon L. Wood; three sisters & four brothers.
Surviving family members include son, Victor Wood of Eunice, Louisiana; daughter, Judy Ann McKamie of Centerville; grandsons, Travis Wood & wife, Dess and Buck Wood & wife, Gena; great grandchildren, Anika, Josh, Ben, Bregan, Sela & Dela Wood and great, great grandchildren, Madison & August Wood.
