Charles Leon Ijames, age 86, of Bourbon, MO, formerly of the Williamsville, MO, area, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at St John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, MO.

He was born December 29, 1924, in Williamsville, MO, son of the late Charles S. and the late Willa Davidson Ijames.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, Sullivan, MO.

Following graduation from Williamsville, MO, high school, Charles entered the US Navy July 4, 1943, to serve our country during World War II. He spent most of his time onboard the Samuel V. Stewart Liberty Ship performing the duties of a gunner.
On January 9, 1946, he married the late Anita June Duckett. She preceded in death on May 15, 2006. They shared 60 years together.
After the military he worked for the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO, before joining the US Corps of Engineers. He held many different positions for the corps beginning with ranger at Lake Wappapello. From there he continued as a ranger at Carlyle Lake in IL. He served as Manager at Rend Lake in Sesser, IL, then as office personnel at the District office in St. Louis, MO.
Charles loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting with fly fishing being the favorite. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, and softball.

Surviving are four daughters; Donna Eubanks,Puxico, MO, Charlene "Ann" Zoll of Dexter, MO, Anita (Gerald) Mayo, Mt. Vernon, IL, Cathy (Randy) Bremer, Bourbon, MO, ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, Angie Townsend, Stephanie Ford, Misti McElroy, Ryan Ijames, Mandi Lou Stilts, Tamara Clark, Landall Zoll, Justin Bouse, Austin Ijames, Marcus Bremer, Athena Thacker, Andrea Bremer, fifteen great grand children, four step-grandchildren. Cory, Sydney, Myah, Gabe Townsend, Madilyn and Keegan McElroy, Raigen, Bryleigh, and Bella Zoll; Lillian Stilts, Gabrielle and Ava Clark, Evie Ford, Kaden and Brennan Bouse, Collin, Chase, and Hannah Thacker, and Laquayla Kerr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anita June Ijames and infant son, Steven Lynn Ijames, one brother, Don D. Ijames, and one sister Mattie E. Warren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 4, 2011, at Williamsville United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment followed at Holliday Cemetery, Williamsville, MO. Mr. Ijames was laid to rest with full military honors.
Services were conducted by Pastor Ben Justice. Landall Fox, Ryan Ijames, Austin Ijames, Justin Bouse, Marcus Bremer, Dan Ford, and Greg Stilts served as pallbearers. Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville, MO were in charge of arrangements. Online Condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhome.com
