Jennie was a daughter of George W. and Elizabth Jane (Curtis) Thompson. She was the sister of: George William, Thomas J., John R., R. Frank, Joseph H. Elmer Roland, F.C., Mary Christina and Sarah A. She was married to Joseph Richards on December 9, 1887 in LeMars, Plymouth County, Iowa. They had the following children: George Irwin, Elizabeth, Henry, Grace, Ella, Frank, Clinton and Richard. Her cause of death was a complications from a fractured hip.

Hinton Lady Dies

Mrs. Jennie Richards, 90, a resident of Hinton and vicinity for 77 years died Monday at a hospital after she fell at her home Saturday and suffered a fractured hip.

Mrs. Richards was born March 31, 1864 in Dubuque Iowa. She was married to Joseph Richards December 9, 1887, at Lemars. He died October 2, 1924 at Hinton. She was a charter member at the the Methodist Church in Hinton.

Survivors include four sons, George, Frank, and Clinton, all of Hinton, and Richard of Moville: three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford of Hinton, Mrs. Ella Good of Cherokee, Ia., and Mrs. Grace Torbert of West Brentwood, Long Island, New York: a brother, Joseph Thompson of Hinton: 31 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2:00pm Wednesday at Hinton Methodist Church, Rev. Ralph Kitterman of Rockwell City, Iowa and Rev. F. D. Wimp of Hinton officiated. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery near Hinton under the direction of the Witer Funeral Home.
