MARY POWELL
---Following her last illness of several weeks duration, Mrs. M.E. Powell, one of the highly respected and dearly loved old ladies of Brashear, died Monday afternoon.
---In the year 1865, Mrs. Powell and her husband moved to a farm eight miles west of La Plata and a few years later moved to La Plata. Mr. Powell was a charter member of the La Plata Masonic Lodge and Mrs. Powell was a member of the Eastern Star chapter at this place.
---In the year 1986 they moved to Brashear, Missouri. Mr. Powell died March 19, 1897. Mrs. Powell continued to make her home in Brashear, and for the past few years has lived with and been tenderly cared for, by Mr. and Mrs. James Hines at whose home she died Monday, December 29, 1924 at the age of eighty-four years and twenty-five days.
---Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at 9 p.m. by Rev. H.B. Underwood of Milan, then the body was brought to La Plata and laid to rest by the side of her husband in the beautiful La Plata cemetery.
