Marie Barfield McConnell (1934 - 2011)

Marie Barfield McConnell, 77, passed away at her home Sunday, March 6, 2011, surrounded by loving family. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Marie was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Marlin. She moved to Fort Worth in 1961. There she raised a family and made a home for 42 years with her husband, Kenneth Barfield, until his passing. In 2005, Marie married Harlon McConnell and moved to Alex, Okla. Marie will be remembered for her loving hospitality, sense of humor, and her amazing energy and perseverance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bertha Bailey; 10 brothers; and one sister.

Survivors: Husband, Harlon McConnell; sister, Betty Koon; children, Jeff Barfield and wife, Toy, Roger Barfield, Jerry Barfield, Terry Barfield and wife, Joanne, Gaillon Barfield, Donna Pistokache and husband, Jesse, and Lisa Cherryhomes and husband, Jon, all of Texas; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
