Rozalia Tuczek was born in Poland (possibly in Krakow in the Galicia region, according to several of her surviving grandchildren). Her parents were Joseph Tuczek and Katherine Wawrzywok, according to the records of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church in Minersville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USA. (Rose was an active member at St. Stan's from at least 1910 until her death.)

Rozalia left home and her parents, hoping to make a better life for herself. She emigrated to the United States sometime around 1905 (most likely arriving at Ellis Island), and was known by family and friends as "Rose".

Jan Krupa took Rozalia as his bride in 1906. They were both residing at 423 North 2nd Street in Philadelphia at the time, according to their marriage license application. The address was most likely the site of an apartment building or boarding house where multiple Polish immigrants were living. (Philadelphia was home to a large Polish settlement in the early 1900s.)

Jan and Rose were married on 28 October 1906 by Father Benedict Tomniak at St. Josaphat's Roman Catholic Church, which was and remains a part of the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. Manayunk and St. Josaphat's were major gathering places for Polish immigrants during the time that Jan and Rose lived and worshipped there.

While Rose's gravemarker and other records list her birth year as 1889, her marriage license application documents that her date of birth was 10 May 1884.

Various records over the years (census, church, funeral, children's social security number application forms, etc.) show multiple different spellings for Rose's given and maiden names. Given Name Variants: Rosalia, Rozalia, Rosaliae. Maiden Name Variants: Tluczek, Tlucsek, Tuczak, Tuczek, Toczek, Toczyk, Tzuzeck.

Rose's given name was spelled as Rozalia on both her marriage license application and her gravemarker. Her maiden name was spelled as Tuczek on the marriage license application and on the baptismal certificate of her eldest daughter, Marianna "Mary" Krupa. Mary was born 9 August 1907 and baptized 18 August 1907.

Both the marriage license application of Jan and Rozalia and the baptismal record of their daughter, Marianna, were completed by the parish priest at St. Josaphat's, Father Benedict Tomniak. Family members actively engaged in researching Rose's past believe that the May date of birth and maiden name spelling, "Tuczek," are the most accurate since the priests at St. Josaphat's parish did (and still do) read, speak, and write Polish fluently, and were/are adept at translation from Polish to Latin and English and vice versa.

Sometime between Mary's birth and the birth of their second child (a daughter, Stanistawa "Sophia" Krupa, born in 1909), Jan and Rose Krupa moved with Mary to Minersville, Pennsylvania.

John became a "powder monkey", setting charges in the coal mines so successfully that he never had an injury during more than 30 years of this job that was known as one of the most dangerous of all mining occupations.

The occupation listed on the 1906 marriage application for Rose was "housework." She continued this honorable, often back-breaking labor while John worked in the mines, taking in laundry and helping to keep other families' homes as spotless as she kept her own while raising her growing family. She also attended night school, learning English to compliment the Polish and Russian languages in which she had become fluent before emigrating to America.

The Krupa brood grew to include: Estelle (Stella, born in 1911), Frances (born in 1913), Stephania (Theresa or Tessie as she was known to family, born in 1915), Genovefa (Genevieve or Jennie, born in 1918), Edward (born in 1921), and the twins, Tomash and Francizk ("Thomas" and "Frank"), who were born in 1924 and died from complications from influenza in 1925 and 1926, respectively.

Jan Krupa was eventually felled by black lung disease, succumbing 23 June 1942.

Rose married a second time - to family friend, John Hutyra, on 19 May 1943 at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish Church in Minersville, where Rose had been a devoted church member. The marriage, however, was brief. Tragedy struck again, this time taking John Hutyra from Rose sometime around 1944.

Rose lived a long life, and finally passed away in April 1962. She was buried with her first husband, Jan Krupa, and their daughter, Theresa "Tess" (Krupa) Gauntlett in Row M, Lot #257, at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Cemetery on Llewellyn Road in Minersville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

Tomash and Francizk Krupa, the twin sons of Jan and Rose, are buried nearby with William ("Bill") Allar, the husband of John and Rose's daughter, Marianna "Mary" (Krupa) Allar in Row N, Lot #264. Bill Allar passed away in 1956.
