Ann Catledge Hardwick, 82, of Fort Worth died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the home of her niece with whom she had lived for several years.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Celebration Community Church. Interment: 1 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville, Miss. Visitation: 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, Miss. Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth and Porter Funeral Home in Louisville are in charge of services.
Memorials: May be made to a charity of choice, Winston Academy or the American Heart Association.
She was the daughter of Albert L. and Minnie Shields Catledge of Louisville, Miss. She lived in Louisville for many years prior to her move to Texas. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, where she majored in English. She married Joe Hardwick of Louisville, Miss., at First Baptist Church of Louisville on Dec. 10, 1950. They had one son, Michael Craig. Joe preceded Ann in death in 1975. They were living in Durham, N.C., at that time.
When Ann and Michael returned to Louisville, Ann worked at the Bank of Louisville until her retirement. She was an enthusiastic tennis player and she and her sister, Margery C. Brown, competed successfully in several tennis tournaments in the Louisville area. She was an accomplished pianist and member of First Baptist Church of Louisville.
Special appreciation is extended to Ann's caregivers, Linde Kosch, Kim Livingston and her staff at Home Care Extended, and the staff at Community Hospice of Fort Worth for their compassionate care.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert L. Catledge Jr.; one sister, Mary Frances Thompson; and one nephew, Dennis Flynn Catledge.
Survivors: Son, Michael Craig Hardwick and his wife, Deborah, of Oxford, Miss.; granddaughters, Kelsey and Mary Michael; great-grandson, Branson; sister, Margery C. Brown; nephews, Richard R., Thompson, Al Thompson and Dave Thompson, all of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Banks Abernathy of Louisiana; nieces, Susan B. Bulla of Fort Worth, Pamela Catledge Kirk and her husband, Ben, Marsha Catledge Fulcher and her husband, Jerry, Nell Abernathy Skiles of North Carolina and Sue Abernathy McNeil, Betty Jean Abernathy Ford and Nancy Abernathy Fischer, all of Louisiana.
