The funeral of Mrs. Charles Bloom Sr., was held from the M. E. Church at Brothertown on Wednesday March 13th, Reverend Hinkelman of Stockbridge conducting the service, paying a high tribute to the deceased woman as a pioneer and worthy citizen of the western portion of the county for the greater portion of her useful life. Grandma Bloom as she familiarly called by old and young was married at Niagara Falls, N.Y., Dec. 11, 1855 to Charles L. Bloom, and shortly after located in South Stockbridge. During the civil war she looked after the farm and cared for her small family while her husband was at the front. She held the respect an esteem of all who knew her and her death caused sorrow not only to immediate relatives but to old neighbors and friends as well.
