Mrs. Martha J. Calloway
Martha Jane Kilby Calloway was born January 19, 1855, and died April 16, 1942, making her stay on earth 87 years, 2 months, and 27 days.
She was married to Alfred Calloway, July 29, 1873. To this union were born ten children, one of which, Laura, died in childhood. The living are; Mrs. J.M. Hartzog and Mrs. R.C. Woodrugg, of Idlewild; Mrs. R.F. Bledsoe of Deep Gap; Mrs. T.S. Roten, Dellwood; Mrs. J.H. Colvard, of Obids; Mrs. G.A. Miller, W.M. Calloway, W.T. Calloway and C.J. Calloway of West Jefferson.
Surviving also are a sister, Mrs. Callie Baldwin, of Lansing, and a brother, W.N. Kilby, of Bina. Her husband preceded her to the grave eleven years ago.
She professed a hope in Christ and joined the Primitive Baptist church, early in life, and at the time of her death was a member of Old Beaver Creek church.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder Ed Davis, April 17th at the Burkett cemetery, where internment was made.

Mrs. Calloway Buried Friday
Mrs. Martha Calloway, of West Jefferson, who died last Thursday was buried on Friday at the Phillips cemetery with W.T. Whittington in charge of the service.
She was 86 years old at the time of her death, which followed a period of serious illness.
She is survived by nine sons and daughters, Mrs. Verda Hartzog, Mrs. Jennie Bledsoe, Mrs. Callie Woodruff, Mrs. Cora Roten, Wint Calloway, Will Calloway, Mrs. Bessie Colvard, Mrs. Charles Calloway and Mrs. Mae Miller.
