Age 90 died Sunday, March 06, 2011
at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with her family by her side. She was born August 18, 1920 in Detroit, MI to John and Agnes (Strouhal) Urban.
On June 2, 1942 she married Stanley S. Pokrywki in Detroit, MI who preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1992. Helen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Milan, Ladies Altar Society, Council of Catholic Women, Milan Extension Club and Christian Service Group.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald of Summerfield, Florida and James (Karen).of Willis, two daughters, Barbara (Bernard) Martin and Marlene Farrow both of Willis, four grandchildren, Dawn, Shad, Jeff Pokrywki and Shawn Martin, three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren four sisters Agnes Jaworski, Dorothy Michevicius, Irene Piastowski and Rita Pappas. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Tuesday from 6-8pm, Wednesday from 1-3 and 5-8pm with a rosary at 6pm on ash Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Milan where she will lie in state from 10:00am until time of service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Augusta Twp., MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church Window Project. www.ochalekstark.com.
