Benny Glen Moore

Services for Benny Glen Moore, 80, of Whitehouse will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating.

Burial will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery in Whitehouse under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore, a lifetime member of the Whitehouse community, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Mount Vernon to Forney and Vallie Crayton Moore.

He attended Troup ISD and later served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Benny served aboard the USS Lenawee. He received four medals while serving in the Korean War; the National Defense Medal, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United States Service Medal. After being honorably discharged, he and his wife Betty moved to Mesquite and later to Whitehouse where he owned and operated Moore Electrical and Air Conditioning Co., for 18 years. Retiring and beginning another career with TDCJ as area maintenance for 15 years, he then began a third career building spec and custom homes.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Moore McNeill, and two brothers.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 60 years, Betty Moore of Whitehouse; son, Deryl Moore and wife Jeannie of Flint; and grandchildren, Alexis "Lexi" Moore of Whitehouse, Shannon Bolton and husband Franklin, and Austin Moore, all of Austin.

Pallbearers will be Austin Moore, Frank Bolton, Allen Madison, James Foreman, Billy Joe Rogers, and Mike Mahurin.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Rowdy Bunch RV Club.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Higthway, Tyler, 75703.

If desired, memorials in honor of Benny Moore may be made to Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
