Found in 1870 Tallapoosa Co. Ala. census. Martin and wife Jane, there was also a Wash Crow age 23 earning money in household, (this fact causes many to believe this was a son of Martin's) all are said to be born in Ala. There were also Max Allen age 11, male, attending school, Carrie Allen age 6, female and Cecil Allen age 3, male, in household. These children were all from Ala. Info above left intact, however, Martin and Sarah Jane had no son named Washington according to the family Bible. This is likely the son of Meredith Meriday Crow.
The 1880 census finds Martin and Sarah living in Hackneyville, Tallapoosa County with six children at home.
Martin Enlisted in the Army on June 9, 1836 at Decatur, Georgia under Captain James M. Calhoun's Company of Georgia Volunteers. Battalion Commander was Col. Julius C. Alford. Fought in the war with the Creek Indians in Stewart County. Received a musket ball to the knee on July 24, 1836 and was honorably discharged at Columbus, Ga. on September 13,1836. He can be found applying for pension several years afterward. Following his death Sarah Jane continued to receive the pension until 1894. Clay County, Alabama marriage records state the date of marriage to Sarah as September 20, 1846.
