Christened 8 November 1685, Murten, Muntelier, Bern, Switzerland.

Son of Elsbeth Steinman and Henrich Etter.

Married Anna Maria Siegrist about 1710, Riggisberg, Kanton Bern, Switzerland. They immigrated to America in 1735, settling in Pennsylvania.

His second son born 25 March 1714, whom they named Johannes Hans Etter, Jr. died young, at about 9 years old in Switzerland.

They also named their fifth son Johannes, but called him "John" Etter. This Johannes "John" 1723-1767 is buried in Milton Grove Cemetery.

Note: There is no actual cemetery named Rapho Township; the designation describes the entire Township.Johannes Etter died before April 5, 1749 at Rapho Township, Pennsylvania, near Mount Joy. I have a copy of his probate records which name his widow Anna, and is signed by her and 2 of the Etter sons, Johannes and Peter Etter.
It takes a horse and carriage an average of 8 to 12 hours to travel 50 miles. His body was transported to his resting place in Bally, which was about 60 miles East.
