The Chanute Tribune - June 11, 1948 - Mrs. Mary May Oliphant, 71, died at Pittsburg at 7:15 this morning following an illness of several years. She was born Dec. 24, 1877 (date in family bible is 1876), at Argentine (should be Emporia), Kas. She was married to Albert L. Oliphant June 16, 1895, at San Marcial, N. M. They came to Chanute from Cherryvale in 1908, and she had lived in Chanute since that time until about a year ago when she was taken to Pittsburg. Mr Oliphant died June 16 (was actually on June 19 after being injured in a railroad accident on June 18), 1925, and a son, William, died Mar. 2 (date in Oliphant bible is Aug. 28), 1921. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Gardner, LaGrange, Ill.; five sons, Lee, of Chanute, Harold L., Bartlesville, Ralph J., Tulsa, Howard T., Wichita, and Robert C., of Humboldt and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The Chanute Tribune - June 14, 1948 - FUNERAL SERVICES - OLIPHANT - The funeral service for Mrs. Mary May Oliphant was held Sunday afternoon at Roy S. Gibson funeral home with Rev. Melvin Booth officiating. Mrs. Roy Mason accompanied by Mrs. Dave Patterson, sang "In the GArden" and "City Four-Aquare." Flowers were arranged by Mmes. L. E. Lofgren, Mabel Hodges, C. C. Norman and Lester Welsh. Bearers were Ferd Johnson, L. E. Lofgren, P. A. Swan, William Heller jr., T. W. Gee and Herla Rush. Burial was in Elmwood.

Rio Grande Republican, Vol. 14, No. 41; Las Cruces, New Mexico; Friday, March 8, 1895; Page 3 "Mr. A. M. Oliphant and Miss Mary Ramp were married in Rincon on Monday evening last. Rev. Jas. Menanl of Albubuerque officiating." (exactly as written - should be A. L. Oliphant - Rincon is in Dona Ana County, NM)

Mary's parents were Cynthia Woodruff (Tedrow) and William Ramp. Her siblings were Samuel Ellsworth & Benjamin Franklin Ramp. Her half-siblings were Hiram & Salina Tedrow and Harry E. Hogan jr.
