George H. Maycroft, 75, of Arthur, died at 12:03 a.m. Tuesday (July 30, 2002) at the Eastview Terrace Nursing Facility in Sullivan.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Shrader Funeral Home, in Arthur, with Paul Fleenor officiating. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Moultrie County, a son of Herbert and Nora Allen Maycroft. He married Joy Maycroft in 1946; she died on July 3, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Maycroft of Warner Robins, Ga., Jerry Maycroft of Newport News, Va.; one daughter, Marsha Hurst of West Point, Va. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Maycroft was an operator at the Quantum/USI power plant in Tuscola and was a navy veteran of WW II. He served on the board of Bourbon Lowe Township Cemetery and a member of the Hammond Church of Christ.
