Mary Chappell Blanchard, 82, passed away November 16, 2012. She was born in Perquimans County, NC, and lived in Suffolk over 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Linford Chappell and Sarah Skinner Chappell Griffin and stepfather, Wallace E. Griffin, Sr. She was the widow of Raymond “Doc” Blanchard. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Charles Russell Chappell, Robert Preston Chappell, James L. Chappell, Sr., and Wallace E. Griffin, Jr.

Mary was an active member of Suffolk Christian Church. She was a teacher and past president of the West Memorial Bible Class; past Circle leader, and long time Devotional leader; and member of the Care and Concern Outreach Ministry. Mary served twice as past President of the Lakeview Heights Garden Club. She was an active member of the Suffolk Woman’s Club, a member of the Suffolk Christian Womans’ Connection, and a former member of Janus Society of the Khedive Temple.

Her suvivors include her son, Randell Blanchard and wife, Robin; her sister, Bessie Griffin Parker and husband, Peter; her sisters-in-law, Marjorine Chappell, Sheila Chappell, and Jeanette Griffin, all of Suffolk, and Florine Chappell of Charlotte, NC; her many nieces and nephews; and her special cousin, Daisy Perry.

Her graveside service was conducted by the Rev. Michael D. Halley and Mr. John Christmas.
