Mr. Applewhite was preceded in death by his oldest son, Guy Applewhite of Gautier, his parents, Guy and Odesa Applewhite, brother, Hugh Applewhite of Hazelhurst, and sister, Betty Ruth Jareau of Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Applewhite, three sons, Ernie (Susan) Applewhite, Jr., Roger (Agnes) Applewhite, Scott (Monique) Applewhite, a daughter, Gretta Applewhite, a sister, Doris Hays, brothers, Harold, Carroll and Robert, grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Lisa, Marcus, Gina, Kris, Nevin and Carmen, and great-grandchildren.
The family prefers memorials to the Gautier First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2717 Highway 90, Gautier, MS., 39553. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 24, 2004, from 6-8 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Friday, June 25, 2004, there will be an 11 AM church service at the Gautier First United Methodist Church, where friends may call from 10 -11 AM. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
