It was back in the day
when my life went astray
July 28 the year 2002
was the day it all turned blue
they pronounced her dead at 7:30
I knew the lord took her to early
she was my rock she was my sun
the very next day arrangements begun
I can't describe how she made me feel inside
I still can't fathom that my mom has died
August 1st was the day we buried her
I was one of the six to carry her
on that day everything was gray
dealing with the fact she had passed away
they closed the doors prepared to take her
no more suffering she was with her maker
night after night I couldn't sleep
for my sweet mother I could only weep
six years later she feels no pain
but I always think of her when it starts to rain
My mother was only 51 when she passed away after a 10 year fight with cancer. I was just 8 when she was diagnosed in 1992 she went through the chemotherapy and lost her hair but still remained in good spirits. A mastectomy was done in 1993 then the cancer went into remission. She had to battle it again a couple years later with the chemo. once again her hair was lost but her spirit was never broken. She had a good 3 years until 1998 when a check up found that this killer had now shown up in her bone marrow. it was discovered to late to perform a transplant. So there she went again, fighting and raising me by herself as a single mother. for weeks on end she had to go to Touro Infirmary 5 days a week to receive radiation treatments. It amazed me how the cancer would bounce around starting in her leg then shooting to her jaw shoulder and back and eventually settling in her brain which is what finally ended her suffering at 7:30 pm on July 28th 2002. The only reasonable explanation I could ever find for her death was that god wanted his angel back in heaven. She will forever be loved and missed by so many especially m
