Merle H Sprenkle, Jr., 75 of 27 S. Church St., Waynesboro, died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, April 5, 1991 in the Waynesboro Hospital. He was in failing health for the past year and critically ill for the past two weeks.
Born May 11, 1916, at Roadside, Washington Township, he was the son of the late Merle H Sprenkle Sr. and Blanche J. (Minor) Sprenkle. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
He and his wife, C Leone (Stoops) Sprenkle, were married Nov 24, 1938, and had lived at the present address for the past 25 years.
Mr Sprenkle served in the Pennsylvania 104th Horse Cavalry.
He was employed at Landis Tool company for a number of years. Prior to retiring in 1970, he was a bartender at Waynesboro Eagles Club, Inc.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. Menberships also included the Eagles Club, Inc., and Fraternal Order of Police.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald M. Sprenkle of Augusta, Ga., Roger H. Sprenkle of Chambersburg and Randall W. Sprenkle of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; a brother, Richard Sprenkle of Waynesboro; three sisters, Evelyn Royer of Smithsburg, Md., Martha Hartman of Waynesboro and Emma Feaster of Waynesboro.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Grove Funeral Home with Rev. Roger H. Mentzer officiating. Burial will be in the Burns Hill Cemetery. the family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
