Comments by great-great-grandson Bryan S. Godfrey, January, 2013:

Ella was the first of several named Ella in her lineage. My maternal grandmother, Ella Perrow Pearson (Overstreet) (1921-2008), was named for her, and in 2010, my brother named his first-born child Ella Finley Godfrey after our grandmother.

Ella Walker Perrow was the only child of her mother and the first of her father's ten children. Her parents separated either shortly before or shortly after her birth in 1859, for her father, Robert Benjamin Walker, had settled in Texas by 1860. Her mother was able to obtain a divorce. He married Julia Caroline Standifer (1847-1933) in 1866 in Wise Co., TX, where they lived near Garvin until 1885, when they settled near Eolian and Breckenridge in Stephens Co., TX. There is a tradition that Ella and her father wrote to one another, but I question this, and at any rate, Ella and her descendants appear to have had no contact with their half-blood Walker relations in Texas or with their Walker cousins in Bedford Co., VA until I began tracing this side in the 1990s and was able to track down Robert and his second set of descendants between 1995 and 1997 and to visit his two great-granddaughters (who are almost certainly his only great-grandchildren by his second marriage) while living temporarily at Austin, TX in 1997.
