Graveside services for Mr. William R. "Bill" Morris, 94 of Marshall will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday March 06, 2011 in Algoma Cemetery North with grandson, Jimmie Ray Sawyer officiating. Mr. Morris passed away March 03, 2011 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

William R. "Bill" Morris was born November 08, 1916 in Marshall to Ivan J. Morris and Ida Cornelia Bostick. On April 07, 1946 he married Nell Bell. Mr. Morris was a member of First United Methodist Church in Longview and Marshall.

Bill served his country in the Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Dobbin in WW II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Morris was a 70 year master mason, a member of Longview Masonic Lodge 404 and the Marshall Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Hella and Sharon Shrine Temples, the Longview Tennis Association as well as the Kiwanas Club. He was also an Eagle Scout and a private pilot.

Surviving Bill are his wife of 64 years, Nell Morris of Shreveport; daughters, Diane Steen of Shreveport, Nancy Walsh and husband David of Plano, and Mary Nell Kelly of California; grandchildren, Amy Legate and husband James of Dallas, Dare Johnson of Shreveport, William Johnson and wife Tiffany of Denver, CO, Jimmie Ray Sawyer and wife Renee of Kilgore, Scotty Sawyer of Wyoming, Michael Walsh and wife Hollie of Ft. Worth, Brad Kelly of LaQuinta, CA, and Kimberly Kelly of Dallas; thirteen great-grandchildren; niece, Carol Sue Little and husband Bob of Longview; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ray Morris of Longview and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, I.J. Morris of Marshall.
