A daughter of Samuel Guilford and Submit Chamberlain (Tenney) Guilford, of Salisbury, Merrimack, New Hampshire, Eveline died a few short months after her only daughter was born, and her husband, Joseph Leavitt, died six months later. Daughter Evvie (also named Eveline) was raised by her maternal grandparents and only lived to age 17, succumbing to typhoid fever as had her mother before her.
