Clarence Winfield "C . W." Barker Jr., 73, died Friday morning (04-22-05) at his residence after a short illness.
He was a lifelong residence of Ware County, son of the late Clarence W. Barker, Sr. and Nettie O'Berry Barker.
He retired in 1989 after 40 years of service from the mechanical department, Waycross Shops, CSX Railroad and also retired from the Georgia National Guard with more than 40 years of service.
He was a member of Hebardville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by four brothers Carl Barker, Richard "Dick" Barker, Raymond Barker and Jack Barker. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Betty Huffman barker of Waycross; a son Terry Barker, wife Gail of Waycross; two daughters Jeanne Middleton, husband Jack and Dana Barker all of Waycross; two sisters; Eloise Murray of Waycross and Elizabeth Hinson, husband Elton of Brunswick Ga.; two grandsons Bradley Barker, wife Lisa and Matt Middleton of Waycross; four granddaughters Lezley Anderson husband Wiley, Chandra Bacon, husband Ryan, Amber Middleton and Laura Tutenm husband Shannon all of Waycross; seven great-grandchildren Keith Barker,, Josh Barker, Christiana Yates, Sysney bacon, Shane Tuten, Tessa Tuten and Taylor Tuten;
Two sister-n-laws Betty Barker of Waycross and Elaine Barker of Burbank Calif.; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon (04-24-05) at 3 p. m. in the chapel of the Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
