CC was a common school teacher who migrated from east of the Mississippi [Georgia, Alabama] to Texas with his young daughter Mary Amelia in tow. The move occurred previous to the War Between the States.
Georgia Ann had likely passed away in the 1850s, and CC later remarried several months after the end of the war. After serving as a school principal in NE Texas for a number of years and helping found a college for women in Henderson, he spent his remaining years around Austin, TX with family. CC was also an ordained minister of the Baptist church, possibly an assistant reverend.
