Born July 1, 1917, in Rockford, the son of John and Anna Cacciapaglia. Lifelong Rockford resident. Married Mary Pat Viren in Rockford, June 15, 1968. Employed 30 years as a liquor salesman by Illinois Wholesale Liquor. U.S. Army veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant. Member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Charles was an accomplished billiards champion, and was known as "The Boy Wonder" at the early age of 11. He played in tournaments and competitions throughout the Midwest from the 1940s to the 1980s. Charlie's best game was straight pool. After a distinguishing career of tournament wins and defeating Willie Mosconi, the world's champion, he retired and taught the art of pool. He was also an avid golfer, competing in tournament in the Rockford area and the PGA. The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Association for their compassion and helpfulness.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Pat sons, Jeff (Lauretta) McCord and Brad (fiancee, Marci) McCord daughters, Cyndi (Fred) Belknap and Kristine (Patrick) Cacciapaglia Enright grandchildren, Austin Belknap and Nathan Hallgren brothers, Marty (Lil) Cacciapaglia and Frank Cacciapaglia, all of Rockford sister, Frannie Sunday of Las Vegas, Nev. nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by parents and brother, Jimmy.
Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Service Inc., 707 Marchesano Drive, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Father Luke will officiate. Cremation rites will follow. 12-12-2
