Josepha was the daughter of Joseph Anthony Dunn (born Feb. 12, 1825 in Croydon, England) and Emma Jeanette Miles (born Aug. 27, 1819 in England, died on Sept. 16, 1877). She first married James Edward Fitzgerald on December 31, 1868 in Dayton, Ohio. The two eventually divorced. Josepha then married William A. Phillips in 1885. The two had one son together, William Grover Phillips, born in 1886. She died at 64 years of age.
