She came to Wellington in the mid-'40s from Arkansas and married John Brown October 6, 1948 in Childress. He died in 1996. She was a retired secretary and cashier for the local office of West Texas Utilities where she was employed for 35 years. Mrs Brown was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister-inlaw, Kathlene Wilkerson of
Fort Smith, AR; four nieces, Sarah Schmidt of Campbell;
Mary Humphries of Tyler; Rose Reeves of Edwards, MO
and Mary Wilkcrson of Fort Smith, AR; Five nephews,
James Lookingbill of Springdale, AR; Earl Wilkerson of
Alma, AR; Tim Lookingbill of New Orleans, LA; Roger
Wilkerson and Sam Wilkerson, both of Tulsa.
The family suggests memorials to the Collingsworth
Public Library or the Wellington Cemetery Association.
