Services for Mrs. LaDene Barron Stone, age 93, of Dallas, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, Duncanville, with Rev. Eugene Willis officiating.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stone passed away Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Tender Loving Elderly Care in Whitehouse.

She was born January 11, 1917, in Hillsboro, Texas, to the late Melvil and Willie Carroll Barron.

Mrs. Stone married Louis Wilmoth Stone on June 30, 1937, in Dallas, and he preceded her in death in 1988, after 51 years of marriage.

Mrs. Stone was a resident of Oak Cliff for 87 years and graduated from Sunset High School. She was employed with the Dallas ISD as school secretary for 10 years, active in PTA, and served as President.

She was a member of the Heirloom Study Club and Oak Cliff Book Club.

She was a member of the Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church of Dallas since 1936, where she was active as the Sunday School attendance secretary for many years and participated in the Women's Circle.

She was a dearly loved wife, mother, and wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Stone is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Rentzel Crowe of Dallas, Texas, and Betty Smith and husband, Charles of Hideaway, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Rentzel of Portland, OR, Craig Rentzel of Brooklyn, NY, Diana Awbrey and husband Steve of Lindale, Denise Jayroe of Dallas, and Deborah Gilcrease and husband Bill of Tyler; and 10 great-grandchildren.
