(RANBURNE) Services for Derron Leslie Thompson, 49, of Ranburne were Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Thompson officiating. Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery [Ranburne, Cleburne County, Alabama, USA].

Mr. Thompson died Friday, Oct. 31, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Terri Thompson of Ranburne; his mother, Onzell Thompson of Douglasville, Ga.; three daughters, Leslie Smith of Heflin, Anna Allen of Tallapoosa, Ga., and Shannon Sargent of Douglasville; two sons, Shawn Thompson of Douglasville and Kobe Thompson of Ranburne; two sisters, Brenda McGourik and Barbra Thompson, both of Georgia; and three brothers, Keith
Thompson and Steven Thompson, both of Douglasville and John Mac Thompson of Wedowee; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joey Hanson, Ryan Arrington, Micky Summerville Jr., Neal Shellnutt, Jody Smith and Keith Thompson Jr.

Mr. Thompson was a Cleburne County native and lived there most of his life. He was a painter. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a child and by his father, Arvell Thompson." The Randolph Leader. November 5, 2003; The Anniston Star, December 9, 2003.

Derron Leslie THOMPSON, 1954-2003, was son of Arvell THOMPSON, 1922-1998, and of his wife, Onzell Lela THOMPSON, 1927-2010; he was a grandson of Arthur William THOMPSON, 1880-1937, and of his wife, Louemma [variant spelling: Louemma, Louanna] CROW, 1898-1930, and of Perynale 'Perry' Pernio THOMPSON, 1891-1979, and of his wife, Myrtle Lee WALTON, 1894-1968; he was a great grandson of James 'Jimmy' William THOMPSON, 1859-1941, and of his wife, Mary Ann E. HAYNES, 1860-1932; he was a great great grandson of CSA 38th Al Infantry Private Reverend Francis 'Frank' Asbury THOMPSON, 1837-1920, and of his wife, Melinda [Malinda] Ann Elizabeth OTWELL, [variant spelling: OTWELL, ATWELL], 1836-1908; he was a great great great grandson of Rev. Chesley THOMPSON, 1804 - and of his wife, Mary Ann 'Polly' HUDGENS, 1813- ; he was a great great great great grandson of Henry THOMPSON, died 1813, Jasper County, Georgia, USA, and of his wife, Hannah GRIFFIN, died 1830, Jasper County; and Derron Leslie THOMPSON, 1954-2003, was a descendant of American Revolutionary War Veteran, Georgia Troops, Michael GRIFFIN, died 1804, Columbia County, Georgia, and of his wife, Nancy Ann WELDON, died 1808, Columbia County, Georgia.
