Eunice Jackson entered this life on May 20, 1913 at Decatur, one of four children born to Robert and Goldie Mae (Brockway) Walters. She grew up in the Rosalie area and went to rural school through the eighth grade.
The family home was filled with music as father, Bob, was a champion fiddle player. Eunice learned to play the piano and everyone in the family played music on guitars, banjos and other instruments. Her upbringing resulted in a lifelong love of music.
Eunice was married to Floyd William Moore in Tekamah on December 23, 1931. Their union was blessed with three children, Janice, Elvin and Rod. They were divorced in 1955.
Eunice married Ralph Jackson at the Tekamah United Methodist Church on July 27, 1959. Ralph's son, Ralph Eugene, was also part of this new family.
Eunice and Ralph enjoyed a happy marriage and liked to dance. They belonged to a square dance club. She also worked at the J.C. Penney's store in Tekamah for several years.
Eunice was a gifted homemaker with many skills. Her family fondly remember the fruits of her labors. Her large garden produced delicious vegetables that filled two large chest freezers. Favorites from the kitchen included homemade Chex Mix, Ranch Dip, creamed corn, fried chicken and"leafy" Lettuce.
Eunice crocheted afghans for each of her grandhcildren and made doilies and place mats to sell at craft shows. She sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren and did custom sewing for folks in the area.
Eunice was active and enjoyed good health for most of her life. She was an attentive and loving grandma and an active correspondent with beautiful handwriting. She lived in her own home in Tekamah until April, 2005, when she moved to the Tekamah Health and Rehabilitaion Center where she lived until her death on Saturday, June 18, 12005.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; two sons, Floyd Elvin Moore, and Ralph Eugene "Gene" Jackson; one brother, Steve Walters; on sister, Thelma Brinley.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Janice (John) Friedl of Plano, Texas and Rod Moore of Omaha; nine grandhcildren, Tami (Jay) Hovendick of Herman, Allison (Kent) Jordan of Herman, Lisa (Danny) Stubbs of Grand Island, Shad (Jennifer) Moore of Omaha, Kathleen Moore of Omaha, Lynn (Roy) Blomquist of Oakland, Johnny (Nadine) Jackson of Missouri, Jim Friedl of Windlake, Wisconsin, and Tom (Patti) Friedle of East Troy, Wisconsin; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Elna Mae Walters of California; and a host of other family and friends.
