Shell Simmons was the son of James Anderson and Ellen Cates Simmons. He was born Sept. 11, 1914 in Greenfield, MO. He worked for Carthage Marble Corporation as a stone cutter and welder, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Bismont Baptist Church, Stockton, MO.
Shell and Frankie Harville were married Sept. 12, 1940 in Stockton, MO. They moved to California where their daughter Mary Ellen was born in 1942. Then they moved to Kansas. Their sons were born there. David Sheldon in 1943 and Danny Dean in 1952. They moved to Carthage, MO in 1952.
Shell was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond Simmons, one sister, Vera Harper and a granddaughter and a grandson. He is survived by his wife Frankie, a daughter, Mary Ellen Bailes, Eureka Springs, AR.; two sons, David S. Simmons, Humansville, MO and Danny D. Simmons, Diamond, MO. He was also survived by a sister Jewell Byers of Carthage, MO., 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Knell Mortuary had the services and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
