Son of William Eyre Bowers (born September 13, 1813, in Delaware County, PA & died March 11, 1897 in Cushing, OK) & Henrietta (Ickes) Bowers (born August 26, 1827, in Perry County, PA & died July 12, 1873, in Sedgwick County, KS).
William & Henrietta were married in Carlisle, PA.

Charles had the following brothers & sisters: John Jonas, Abner Davis, Mary Elizabeth, Samuel Ickes, Clara Saville, William Eyre, Annie Irene, Susan Ellsworth, Ulric Dalgren, Sarah Louise & George Franklin.

Charles married Lena E. (Falk) on October 6, 1881, in Furley, KS. Charles & Lena had the following children: Frank Harry, Mary Henrietta, Paul Jonas, Clara Elizabeth (Falk), John Charles, Blanche Lena (Brown), William Scott, Nellie Ethel (Falk), Samuel Lewis, Goldie Olive (Pridy / Anderson) Lucille & Ruby Emma.

Lena & Charles lived on a farm at Furley, KS until January of 1892 when they moved to Payne County, about 1 mile north of Cushing, OK.

On November 13, 1899, Charles & Lena filed to Homestead on a quarter of land (27-T18N-R5E) one mile north of Main Street in Cushing, OK -- the northeast 1/4 bordered on the north by Deep Rock Road & on the west by Little Street (HWY 18). In 1903, they sold their land in Cushing, OK & moved from Cushing to what was then Woodward County to a homestead northwest of Rosston, OK; here they resided until 1922. At that time Lena, Charles & their two youngest daughters, Goldie & Ruby, moved to Chico, CA.

In February of 1948, because of ill health, Lena & Charles returned to Laverne, OK & made their home with their daughter, Blanche (Brown) until Charles died.

Mr. C.L. Bowers who lives 12 miles south in Oklahoma Territory sold $1,144 worth of broom corn off of 120 acres on his 160 acre claim besides 10 acres of cotton that netted him $17 per acre. This was on upland prairie and the land was never irrigated. Now what do you think of farming in the "Dry Belt?"-----------------------------

Charles was a farmer & like his father, William Eyre Bowers (who is buried 3 miles north of Cushing, OK in the Zion Cemetery), Charles was a Freemason. In October, 1908, Charles became a Scottish Rite 32° Mason in Guthrie, OK. On March 12, 1909, Charles became the first Worshipful Master of the White Star Masonic Lodge (Gate Valley No. 456) in Gate, OK.
