Jerry Lynn McCarty was born on August 1, 1947 in Sheldon IA, the son of John O'Kane McCarty. He graduated from Sanborn High School in 1965.

He entered the U.S Air Force serving from 1965 to 1969 including duties in Biloxi, MS.

He was united in marriage to Karen Seivert on November 20, 1970 in Ashton Iowa. After his marriage, he worked as an elevator manager in several towns including Larchwood, Iowa, Kiester, Trimont, and Round Lake Minnesota. They finally settled in Jackson MN in 1993, where he had been an insurance agent with his wife, Karen, in Jackson and Worthington. Jerry passed away unexpectantly at the Jackson Medical Center Hospital on February 19, 2004, at he age of 56 years, 6 months, and 18 days.

Jerry was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson, where has served as an usher and greeter. He was a charter member of the Lions Club in Kiester MN. He enjoyed the lake and boating and woodworking.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
