THOMASVILLE – Mr. Joseph Richard "Dickie" Vestal, Sr., 74, formerly of Memorial Park Drive, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Hospice Home at High Point. Born on March 27, 1936 in Davidson County to Hampton Carter and Hazel Swicegood Vestal, he had made this area his home for his entire life. He was a retired mechanic and was of the United Methodist faith. He enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, camping and cooking. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Morton, brother, Hamp Vestal, daughter, Donece Everhart, sons, Joseph R. Vestal, Jr. and Michael Ray Vestal, and his wife Bertha Franklin Vestal.

Surviving are four daughters, Jeanne Dale and husband Steve of High Point, Marie Gaines and husband Frank of Elberton, GA, Gerri Lane and husband Richard of Selma, NC, and Linda Varela of Connelly Springs, NC, fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren.

Graveside inurnment services will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Thomasville City Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Coleman officiating. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the Vestal family. On-line condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.
