Deacon, German Baptist Church
Peter was the son of Solomon HUFFORD, Jr., and Christianna NUDING, a German Baptist Brethren farming couple. Peter was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, one of the middle of nine children. By 1860, his parents had moved the family to Clinton County, Indiana. By 1870, they'd moved on to Macon County, Illinois.
Peter married Eliza Ann EILER in Cerro Gordo, Piatt County, Illinois, on February 23, 1882. Their first child (William Elmer) was born on December 30, 1882, in Illinois. Their second child was born on November 22, 1884, also in Illinois. Peter and his young family moved to Kansas in 1885 and settled northeast of Seward, Stafford County, and that was his home for the rest of his life.
He lost his wife in 1954, two years before he died. He was survived by their sons. When Peter died, son William lived in Jourdonton, Texas, and son Herbert lived in Seward, Kansas.
NOTE: Peter is listed on page 46 of the 1909 HUFFORD FAMILY HISTORY. The listing includes photos of Peter, his wife, and their children. Bio entry from the book:
"Lived with his parents until he was married in 1882, four miles west of Cerro Gordo, Ill., after which he lived on his father's farm near the Sangamon River, Macon County, until 1885 when he moved to his own farm two miles northeast of Seward, Stafford County, Kansas, where he still resides."
