RAYMOND C. SMITH. 83; of Proctorville. Ohio. passed away Thursday. December 25, 1997 in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 1997 at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. Stevel C. Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Huntington, where V.F.W. post 1064 "will conduct military graveside rites. He was born July 24, 1914 in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Oren and Elsie Elkins Smith. He was a retired Sheerman for H. K. Porter Steel, having 38 years of service. He was an avid gardener and a member of United Steelworkers of America Local 37. He was a WWH US Army Veteran. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott I. Smith, a daughter, Vivian Smith Lamham, and one brother, Jim Smith. Survivors include his wife, Lola L. Smith of Proctorville, Ohio, one daughter, Regenia Smith VanDyke of Grundy, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard W. and Judy Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Darrell and Joyce Swann of Proctorville, Ohio; three stepchildren, Brnce Smith of Huntington, David Smith of Ashland, Ky., and Debbie Smith of Richmond. Va., two brothers, Donald L. Smith and Gene Smith, both of Lake Worth, Fla., 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington
