B. R. Bennett
Died - At his home in this city, at 7:55 o'clock, Wednesday evening, April 12, 1916, B. Rufus Bennett, aged 72 years, 2 months and 3 days.
Mr. Bennett was born to Isaac and Mary Bennett, on section 2, in Fountain Green township. There were fourteen children, all of whom have passed away except a sister, Mrs. P. E. Duncan, who lived with her brother the past two or three months. Mrs. Bennett passed away January 11, 1916, and her death affected him very seriously. She was Amanda Louisa Hewett, and they were married May 5, 1868.
Mr. Bennett has lived for the full time of his live within four miles of La Harpe, living for the greater part on the old homestead, coming to this city twelve years ago.
As was recorded in his wife's obituary, while they never had any children of their own, they had shared their home with seven who found the same care and affection would have been bestowed by parents. His life has been exemplary in every way. He and his wife were taken into the Christian Church in May 1867 under the preaching of Eld. Coffey. Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 o'clock p.m. at the Christian church, Eld. H. F. Kelth officiating.
