Born on February 19, 1916, in Belleville, Mifflin County, she is the daughter of the late Lowell and Clare (Gibboney) Alexander. Her husband, Dr. Erwin E. Rodriguez preceded her in death in 1985.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Kay) Stuck, of Mifflintown, and one son, Thomas J. Bortell and his wife Adrienne, of Tucson, AZ also six grandchildren, Kenton Stuck, Cindy Berger, David Bortell, Morton Bortell, Pamela Berstler and Jeffrey Bortell along with eight great-grandchildren.
One son, Louis A. Bortell and two sisters, Dorothy Kocur and Elizabeth Zook preceded her in death.
Margaret was a former member of the Grace Evangelical Church in Lewistown. Earlier in life she was active in the Red Cross, The Lewistown Women's Club, and the Eastern Star.
She and her former husband, Melvin K. Bortell, owned and operated the Tom Johnson Shoe Store in Lewistown for many years.
Her ultimate joy in life was spending time with her family and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2008 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating. Interment followed in Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
Viewing was held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Sunday, November 23, 2008, at the funeral home.
