Lucy Evelyn Fleming Hayes was born in Nebraska City, Neb., on March 20, 1869, and passed away at the Tom Million home January 16, 1936, at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 27 days. While a young woman she united with the Presbyterian church. She was united in marriage to Hamilton Hayes in 1901. After living near Watson several years they moved to Fleming, Colorado. While living there they adopted Lewis Lentz at the age of 5. In 1922 her husband was hurt in a car accident which later caused his death. After his death Mrs. Hayes and Lewis moved to Hamburg, which has since been their home.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son Lewis, two sisters, Mrs. N. J. Hiatt of Hamburg, Mrs. H. I. Workman of Auburn, Nebr., and one brother, Ben Fleming of Wayne, Nebr., besides other relatives and a host of friends who survive her. Funeral services were held at the Johnson Funeral home, Saturday at 2 p. m., January 19, conducted by the Rev. D. N. Gillett. Burial was made at the High Creek cemetery. Mrs. Carl Smith and Fay Weatherhead sang, with Mrs. Dave Hartman at the piano.
