Enlisted in Brunswick County on 2 September, 1863 for the war. Present or accounted for through August, 1864. Captured at Fort Fisher 15 January, 1865 and confined at Elmira, New York, where he died 10 April, 1865 of variola (smallpox) and was buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.
Correspondence with Chemung County Historical Society in Elmira, New York confirms that Enoch Bordeaux’s name was recorded as Enoch Murdeaux in the original records at Elmira and recorded as Enoch Mindex on the tombstone.
Enoch Bordeaux married Sarah “Sallie” Cain, daughter of Cornelius and Lucy Cain. Their children were: Daniel R. Bordeaux, Elizabeth Ann Bordeaux Norris, Martha Jane Bordeaux Smith, Emaline Bordeaux, Marshall William Bordeaux, and Mack Lloyd Bordeaux.
